Multiplying, Moving + More

There have been some exciting changes in our Take Five Café world. Last month we introduced you to our newest location at Surrey City Hall. Next month, you’ll be introduced to a whole new location on the North Shore…and today? Today we are letting you know our location in Gastown is closing its doors and moving to a new downtown neighborhood! We are excited about the new space. But like all big moves, we still have a few t’s to cross and i’s to dot so it will be a couple months until we’re ready to open our new doors. We’re thrilled that this new location will be in the heart of downtown Vancouver and we can’t wait to share the exciting news with you. Stay tuned for more in the next few weeks!

You can still find all your Take Five Café favourites throughout the lower mainland in downtown Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster or Richmond.  And if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Old World vs. New World Wine Challenge at Take Five Cafe Gastown

On the heels of the very successful debut of our Wine Event Series ‘A Celebration of Italian Wine’ Take Five Café Gastown invites you to be our guest at our second event themed “Old World vs. New World” on Thursday October 17th.

This event will feature wines from around the world, pairing an old world version of a varietal against the new world version of the same. You will have the chance to taste, compare, evaluate but most of all enjoy the differences and nuances of what the world of wine has to offer.

The wines will be thoughtfully paired with signature Take Five Cafe menu specialties by co-founder Steve Punzo who is formerly of Caffe de Medici fame and brings a wealth of industry knowledge and expertise.

Nadine McDowell of Level Concepts Inc. will lead you through an informal yet informative tour of the New World vs. Old World wine challenge.

Feel free to join us at any point throughout the evening as wine tastings and food pairings will be available throughout the course of the event.

Your $35 ticket includes four New World vs. Old World pairings (eight wine tastings total) each paired with a generous selection of Italian meats, cheeses, breads and deluxe salads like Duck Confit and Tuscan Bread.

Please note that all guests must be of legal drinking age and proper identification is required along with your printed ticket or e-ticket via eventbrite for entry.

Ample metered parking is available on Cordova street or pay parking can be found in the lot on the corner of Hastings & Abbott.

Please note that we do encourage all guests to plan accordingly and enjoy this event responsibly.

Tickets will be limited for this very special event, so don’t delay! Get yours online here.

Take Five Café Gastown

After a 30 year history and too many amazing dinners to count, the restaurant eventually closed its doors in 2008 and Take Five Café received the full attention of Executive Chef Aron Zipursky.

And while summer has whizzed by, iced coffees have been enjoyed and beach days lived to the fullest, our test kitchen has been cooking up some exciting new dishes, and they’re making their way to our Gastown Café for everyone to enjoy.

Coffee by day. Wine by Night. Now, (more…)
